Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to be able to ride to take part in EAL?

No. Any work with the horses is done on the ground, no riding is required.

I’m a bit scared of the horses but think EAL could work for me - how can you help?

It is entirely natural to be afraid of a wild animal which is large and unpredictable. However, rest assured that our horses are chosen for their calm, docile natures and all staff are trained to keep you safe during any interaction. In our initial chat, we could discuss any adaptions that would make the interactions less worrying for you - maybe being the other side of the fence or only working with Lupin, our smallest pony. If I do not think we will be able to make the necessary adjustments, then I may advise it is best not to proceed to keep you and our horses safe.

How long will I spend with the horses?

A full session can take between 60 and 90 minutes. Approximately 20 to 30 minutes on average is spent with the horses. However, it very much depends on what we’re working through and the exercises we are carrying out.

I think I have ADHD but I don’t have an official diagnosis - can you still work with me?

Absolutely. You do not need a diagnosis or an EHCP to be part of Forging Futures. If you think we could help you to manage your challenges then please get in touch.

I work at a school and think this could help some of my pupils - is that something you could do?

Definitely. The first step would be to meet and discuss the challenges your pupils are facing and then we can design a programme for you. Please get in touch here
